You should use a hook sized #1-#2 they are small fish and they dont bite bigger ones really. To fish for Crappie and Bluegill it is best to use a telescopic rod or a match rod, both of these are effective at using baits. The larger hooks 3/0 or so can produce up to 5 and 6 pound trophies like the fish below. The third and final method here to catch them is to use a Mini or just plain Bass Jig any size will work, use them the same way as you would a casting spoon, the mini will only produce young largemouth, but that is okay as this can help rookies to level up fast. Cast these up against or to the right of the furthest weeds, and reel in dont let the lure stop for long bass like a constant motion, jerking to the right and performing a stop and go can help to interest them, bass hit hard so it is important to quickly set the hook. Another method is to use Spoons Casting Spoons with hooks #1-#4 and #1/0-#4/0 also work at higher level. Set your leader length to 15 and cast towards them, but not into the weeds, Bass are slow to take the bait sometimes so it is very important to not jump the gun and reel in too early. The best early game method level #4 to fish for bass is to use Red Worms on a size 4 hook. Press T again and it will allow you to fast-forward until morning at which point in time you will automatically sell whatever is in your keepnet and be prompted to purchase a new day's worth of travel accommodations (see 'Cost Per Day' below) allowing you to continue to fish without paying the initial Travel Cost anew.Note the Weed bed to the left, Bass hide out in it.

To do this, once you have filled the keepnet, press T to advance Time past 9pm. While leveling, it is recommended that you have the largest keepnet available when traveling to a new location as you will often need to continue to fish at that location for more than one day in order to recuperate the travel costs.
